LES BAINS
My lovely 1m2 flat in the heart taking the spot on stage of Les Bains, during Le temps Retrouvé , a collaborative performative event organized by Gwenael Billaud, and a most welcome spontaneous improvised performance collaboration with Deed Julius:
Thanks to his addition of works, the house became alive, monstrous, mutant, reflecting the horrofying truth of so many deaths in the streets when housing issue could be easily be solved, all the while, this very symbol was disco dancing with the dead, in front of a bourgeoisie partly responsible for this situation.
SACHA MORZY AKA SURA HAARP YOUR NEIGHBOUR IN LES BAINS AT LE TEMPS RETROUVE
Housing, there’s roughly twice as much empty housing as there are homeless people in Europe. Yet developers continue to build houses, most of which many of us may never be able to afford or live in, whilst exploiting resources and land.
And housing issues for the most part touch the majority of social classes from the homeless to the artist and yes even a "non" artist like Sacha Morzy AKA Sura Haarp. From the receptionist to the civil servent and beyond, housing has become a joke. Albeit a sad joke considering how little interest our elected officials and other people seem to have for such a basic human necessity and vital need.
Based on this unfortunate premise Haarp presents to you, like his idol's at IKEA, and in memory of his Lego, a flat pack cardboard kit house. His joke. Transportable like a suitcase and materially sustainable and ethically made too. The perfect housing solution what ever your budget or conscious state of mind.
Amongst so many corruptions and scandals, investigated were :
- The last one involving a social housing inhabited by wealthy people of the richest district of Paris at
Place Vauban not far from the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
- The privatisation of a public monument in one of the richest district of London that would be legally located in a tax heaven in Jersey and now earned now owned by offshore firms, this one example is just the tip of the iceberg, that overall increased numbers of properties being in the hands of super-wealthy individuals from overseas as a major problem for the housing market and the british citizen taxes.
- The last scandal in Rome involving an elected official owning 600 properties in the best places of Rome and renting them to a selected elite for a prize range of 10 to 30 € per month, one of them and the most iconic one being the one in front of the Colosseum.
The idea as demonstrated at Place Vauban in Paris ,in London in front of the Admiralty Arch, and in Rome in front of the Colosseum, is to erect the house in various cities across Europe.
In locations that maybe reflect housing conflict/crises's or (as pictured) places that grant the cardboard house owner access to more luxurious areas.
Areas or neighbourhoods that they may have once dreamed of moving into or in front of monuments like the Admiralty Arch which is used for tax evasion by a company on Guernesey, or social houses at Place Vauban, not far from the Eiffel Tower or the Colosseum, in the richest district of Paris Rome and London filled with wealthy citizen who don't need them and undermine those who are waiting in sometimes terrible conditions for them.
Thanks to Haarp and his cardboard house, being a home owner has never been easier. This piece like the piece can also be sold, replicated and reproduced as an art piece. If you wish to discuss this with the artist in question or wish to use the idea and performance in some way please don't hesitate to get in contact.
Many thanks to Deed Julius for his very welcome spontaneous collaboration.
